A glimpse of nature…

This morning as I was getting myself up and functioning at my mother’s she called me into her room. She’s standing very still at the window looking at something outside with a smile on her face. Knowing I hadn’t heard the wild turkeys that have been here when I have visited before (and they aren’t quiet birds) I wondered what was out there. Glancing outside I see a sight that made me dash off for my camera so I could share with all of you the following sight…

Taking a chance that I would be able to get outside and take a few more photos without spooking it I quietly unlocked the front door. And then moving as slowly and quietly as possible headed out to where I could see it again. Here is a shot as it meandered past the front steps.

Once I am home, I will go through the rest of the photos I managed to take of this deer so that I can share those as well.

Living near a city and right next to a freeway it is easy to forget how peaceful and heartwarming it can be to see a wild creature such as this calmly enjoying the neighborhood with humans. There are roughly 9000 people living in this community but it is so quiet and so few cars racing around that the wildlife seems to be able to co-exist with the people here. I mentioned that it was to quiet for it to have been wild turkeys, I mentioned them because they to tend to co-exist with humans here. Other creatures that have been spotted in the past by my mother have included coyotes and geese (though geese aren’t such an unusual thing to come across)
