GoGeekGirl Exclusive SDCC15 Interview with Composer Bear McCreary

Bear McCreary Photo By Thomas MikuszComposer Bear McCreary took time our of his visit to San Diego Comic Con to sit down with GoGeekGirl and discuss composing, keeping the music fresh and unique for each show, sympathy pains (it will make sense I promise), dream projects and butterfly effects. For those wondering why this was an exciting interview for GoGeekGirl look at the list of shows his music contributes so much to: Outlander, Agents of Shield, Da Vinci’s Demons, The Walking Dead, Black Sails and the list goes on.

Technical difficulties almost cost us this one, new recorder was just a bit to sensitive for the amount of wind and background noise, but good planning meant we had 2 recorders running and were able to salvage the interview. Though I do love the thunderboat going by just as Bear is giving advice for anybody that wants to get into music or composing, but Bear handled it with style and gave some wonderful advice that actually applies to more than just music and composing.

Bear, thank you for taking time out of your day to sit down with GoGeekGirl my only regret is that the photographer that hardly puts a camera down during SDCC was enjoying speaking with you so much that she forgot to take photos to use with this interview. Next time perhaps I can get a photo session.

Be sure to check out Bear’s site where he talks about the music for the various shows he composes for, but be warned… watch the episodes before you read the posts unless you don’t mind knowing what is going to be happening.

A thank you and shout out to the Fox Sports Grill at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront. Your staff is always amazing, especially considering how insane it gets during Comic Con, and though I didn’t think to write down her name, the waitress that assisted me before and after the interview was amazing. Great service, great staff, good food and drinks keeps GoGeekGirl coming back.
