Inking Workshop Announced at Upcoming 5th Anniversary Long Beach Comic and Horror Con
Joe Rubinstein will present an intensive program for Inkers on November 23 & 24, 2013
We’re excited to announce the appearance of Joe Rubinstein, who will offer a special opportunity for anyone looking to improve their inking skills.
Joe has been working in the comic book industry for decades. His love for the art of drawing comics started very early, when he was still a child. Joe eventually met one of his childhood idols, Neal Adams, and was given the task to be his assistant. He went on to assist Dick Giordano and worked alongside other comic greats like Wally Wood and Jim Starlin before becoming a freelance artist to work for all of the major publishers.
Because of his work as an Inker in The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, Joe holds a Guinness world record of inking more pencilers than any other inker. His work on this book spans 20 years.
A few lucky fans will be able to join Joe in an exclusive Inking Workshop opportunity on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 5:00 pm in Room 102B. Students should bring a drawing (their own or downloaded as a blue line print on good paper). Their own drawing can be in graphite on good quality paper (Canson Fanboy recommended) that is half inked (either the right or left side), along with the tools they use to ink. Joe will ink the other side as a demonstration of proper techniques. The Workshop will also include a lecture. Attendance at this Workshop is strictly limited due to the intensive nature of the program. Registration is open now using this link (please note that an additional fee applies).
Celebrating the 5th anniversary with a weekend full of special guests and exhibitors, and engaging panels, Long Beach Comic & Horror Con will be open on Saturday, November 23 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 24 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Advanced ticket holders gain early admission, starting at 9:30 am each day. Tickets are available now at your local SoCal comic book shop or online.
