MovieMaze™ “Kill the Plumber” Contest Launches at Amazing Arizona Comic-Con
New Interactive Mobile Movie Will Feature User Content
January 22, 2014, Los Angeles, CA — The creators of MovieMaze™, the world’s first interactive movie app for smartphones and tablets, have added a new twist to “finding your own adventure,” and they’re announcing it at the Amazing Arizona Comic-Con at the Phoenix Convention Center this weekend. It’s the Kill the Plumber contest, and users who enter will have a chance to see their own MovieMaze™ “dead end” played out with real actors in the company’s next title, The Plumber, due out fall 2014.
When MovieMaze™ was first released worldwide on iTunes and GooglePlay in October as the first interactive movie app designed for mobile devices, it quickly spread to more than100 countries worldwide, where users delighted in directing the misadventures of Mr. Indeep Sheet, The Mechanic, hero of the first MovieMaze™. In his quest to deliver a car and find “true love,” Mr. Sheet, played by CBS Diversity Showcase alum Jake Matthews, was blown up, gassed, or eaten by a werewolf in various “dead ends.” Similar fates await The Plumber as he strives to bring water to the desert and save the world in this new adventure.
The Mechanic is a free download. But the company plans to charge for titles starting with The Plumber, and to make sure users get the most bang for their buck (pun intended), one lucky user will get to Kill the Plumber in a novel way. MovieMaze™ creators Rishi Thaker, Erik Lundmark, Daniel Tee, and Maria Collis, who are currently finalizing the script for The Plumber, will choose the five best entries from those submitted via email or Twitter. Then Facebook fans of The Plumber will vote on the best of the best. The winner gets to see their scene in The Plumber interactive movie and have their name in the onscreen credits.
“We expect to get some great scene ideas,” says Lundmark. “We’re always asking what our fans would like to see in the next MovieMaze™, and we figured this would show them we really want to know.” Of course, a contest is also a good way to get new users for your product, and the MovieMaze™ team is counting on it. Downloading the app is free, and entering the contest is free. So users have nothing to lose but the life of a poor plumber, to be played by Brian Prisco (Geeks Who Drink), whom MovieMaze™ fans will remember as Short Robber 1 in The Mechanic. Also returning is Darcy Donavan (Anchorman) who played everything from a femme fatale to a werewolf in the last MovieMaze™. “We asked Darcy to play a mermaid this time,” says Collis. “It’s about a plumber, right? Plumber, water, mermaid. That’s the way our twisted minds work.”
MovieMaze™ Ltd. will exhibit throughout the run of Amazing Arizona in Booth 208. Lundmark is scheduled to demo the app for attendees on Sunday at noon. The Kill the Plumber contest runs through March 1. For details, visit the MovieMazePlumber page on Facebook.
