Grindhouse Filmmaking Legend Ted. V, Mikels (The Corpse Grinders, The Doll Squad, Astro Zombies) is raising funds for his new movie, “PARANORMAL EXTREMES: TEXT MESSAGES FROM THE DEAD. “
At 84, Mikels is perhaps the oldest filmmaker actively working on independent films.
“As always, I struggle to put together the necessary dollars to get my movie done. I have tried diligently to make films that will entertain you, and this one surely will,” said Mikels.
To round up the extra dollars required to finish this movie, Mikels has turned to “crowdfunding ” by way of IndieGoGo. Ted is offering DVD’s in advance, and many other prized collectible items, depending on how you participate.
Mikels admits, “This is new to me, but everyone asks me to continue making my movies for years to come, but I really need a little help.”
Mikels has been making films for over 60 years. In 2009, a book called Film Alchemy: The Independent Cinema of Ted V. Mikels, written by Christopher Wayne Curry.
In 2010, Alpha Video released The Wild World of Ted V. Mikels which is a documentary about the film-making career of Mikels directed by Kevin Sean Michaels and narrated by John Waters (director, Pink Flamingos). Also in 2010, Mikels released the third installment in his Astro-Zombies franchise –Astro-Zombies M3: Cloned. The film was produced by TVM Global Entertainment, in association with Blue Heron International Pictures.
In 2012, Mikels unleashed the fourth installment in the franchise — Astro-Zombies M4: Invaders from Cyberspace, again produced by TVM Global Entertainment in association with Blue Heron International Pictures. Both movies are distributed by Alpha New Cinema.
