Razor is coming!

Razor Movie TeaserFirst Everette Hartsoe proves that even with the years since the last ‘new’ issue of Razor, fans still love this book and it’s characters. Using a successful Kickstarter campaign, Hartsoe is bringing her back to fans new and old.

Here is a little bit of history as taken from Hartsoe’s own words posted on the Kickstarter page:

I created RAZOR in 1991 as a way to help deal with my depression over the death  of my younger sister ( see bio ). The subject matter of a ultra-violent female vigilante turned off many publishers, so I decided to self-publish under the banner LONDON NIGHT STUDIOS. The 1st issue exceeded all expectations, which enabled me to quit the day job and draw comics full time. The flagship title, RAZOR UNCUT reached issue 51, which is a major feat for any independent comic book publisher. Between 1992-99 Razor has appeared in over 100 different publications. To this date back issues of Razor comics and cards are actively bought sold and traded on eBay and online comic retailers.

But who is Razor?

Nicole Mitchell witnessed the murder of her father and the abduction of her sister, Jackie. Now an orphan bouncing from foster homes, in and out of juvenile detention, Nicole has been sent to Brighton Mental Institute and has spent the past 10 years locked away, enduring abuse, that cracks her already fragile psyche. Upon her release at age 18, Nicole plans to take matters into her own hands , to extract revenge on the asylum, her father’s killers, find her sister and stop the flow of human trafficking within the corrupt walls of Queen City. This book is a dark, gritty goth-noir work of fiction for mature readers, in the vein of Sin City and The CrowEverette Hartsoe’s RAZOR:SCARS graphic novel will be published from Hartsoe Studios and Most Comics (Based on the story from Everette Hartsoe and Jeff Most the producer of‘The CROW’)

The successful Kickstarter is the least of Hartsoe’s Razor related news.

We knew during the Kickstarter that Hartsoe wanted to bring her to the big screen. Well the news has finally slipped past all those locked Hollywood lips.  Rob Cohen, “The Fast and The Furious” and “Dragonheart”, has been attached to the project as writer/director. With Jeff Most, “The Crow” and “The Specialist” attached as Producer.

Razor isn’t just picking up steam. She’s kicking in the nitrous and looking to blast into our lives in a big screen way.

And now we wait… who will they find to portray Hartsoe’s dark, scarred, violent “heroine”?How will the story be crafted for today’s audience? Will they be able to translate the dark gritty goth-noir feel of the books to the screen?  Keep your eyes peeled as I will be following the progress of this film production and as information becomes available will be sure to share it.
