“DEADLY LIASONS”

Everything changes as Aphrodite IX discovers the truth about herself and how her handler Burch has been manipulating her.

Imagine you lose 20 minutes of memory that coincide with a murder and you find yourself with blood on your hands.  Now imagine this happens more than once.  What is happening? Why is it happening? Are you responsible? Worse yet, (yes there can be a worse) the victims are people that matter to somebody that you find yourself having strong romantic feelings for. What would you do?

Aphrodite IX has hit it’s stride.  Hawkins has brought the green haired assassin to life in a situation that is challenging her skills and her self in ways you would not expect.  Just when you think he can’t out do himself he proves you wrong with events such as the ones that take place in this issue (sorry you are going to have to read it yourself if you want to know what those events are).  And knowing Hawkins the story will only keep heating up.

But the writing is not the only thing that makes this book such a success, the art of Stjepan Sejic is a large part of it’s success.  Sejic skill at rendering futuristic technology, hybrid creatures, dragons, a certain killer green haired assassin and more is simply breathtaking.  Sejic has stated that he prefers books that he doesn’t have to work with reference material but can let his imagination run wild and Aphrodite IX is definitely a book that meets that preference.

And if you haven’t been reading Aphrodite IX, I have only one thing to ask… Why not?

Final Score: 9/10 for story, art and most of all for once again managing to surprise me!
