RIPCLAW UNLEASHED!
With the aid of Velocity, Ripclaw has been able to resurrect the rebel Cyber Force faction from complete obliteration at the hands of the CDI corporation. But where can you run when you are hiding in a city that is completely owned, operated, and monitored by those who want you dead most?
Issue by issue Marc Silvestri is taking my breath away. I keep thinking “this is it, he can’t top this issue” only to read the next issue and be blown away. Ok I think I have given away how I felt about this issue, but in case you missed it… I loved it.
It truly felt as though we were getting into the story instead of the build up of who we are meeting and where they are. Also, this is the first issue that brings home the fact that this tale is taking place in the current time frame not some long distant future. What? this is now? Yes this is all happening now, 2013! I even had to double check with Matt Hawkins when I saw him at a signing recently to be sure that I had not gotten that detail wrong. Up until now, I will confess, that I kept forgetting this wasn’t set in the future. I think it is so easy to forget this because of the look and feel of Millenium City, it is so futuristic in look and feel (at least the parts that aren’t the grimy outskirts).
We are getting to see more of the personalities of the individual players and also the reaction to the bombshell that had been dropped at the end of issue 3. [And in case you haven’t read issue 3 yet I won’t mention what that bombshell was.]
Here is one of my favorite panels of this issue, probably for the unexpectedness of the humor.
There is so much more I would love to tell you about this issue, but I am afraid if I did I would give away to much and that would just be wrong. So please pick up Cyber Force 4 and see for yourself why I love this book so much. Besides, you have no risk as issue 4 is still free as a result of the Kickstarter that Top Cow used when relaunching this series. And in case you have missed any of the first three issues here are links so you can download them free of cost from Top Cow:
The art is in a word… beautiful! It fits the story like a glove. Khoi Pham continues to take my breath away as he brings Marc’s story to life.
Remember you have no risk in picking up this book, it’s FREE.
