When Sander discovers that his family is missing, Lizel informs him that they might be in the Underground, a dangerous city hidden in subterranean caverns beneath Lantern City.
Just when you think things can’t get any tougher for Sander, they do. What do you do when your family is missing? If you are Sander, you have a choice to make as to how much you are willing to risk for those you love. To find out what Sander decides, you will have to just read it for yourself, as GoGeekGirl just won’t spoil it for you.
The team behind Lantern City continues to deliver with a fast paced, visually intense story that brings you not only well developed characters, but a city of more layers than we would expect to see with only four issues under their belts.
The depth of the story written by Matthew Daley and Mairghread Scott is carried into the art of Carlos Magnos. Carlos is a master at illustrating a world of steampunk that draws the reader in and has them wander the maze of the city right along with the character. From rusty pipes to glowing lights, you can imagine this world truly existing through the lines he has put down on the page.
Sadly this also means that when you turn the last page of the issue you are returned to your own world and left wondering… what’s next for Sander and the other inhabitants of Lantern City. What happens when Sander crosses paths with… You thought we were going to slip and actually tell you, didn’t you? To find out you know what you need to do, read the book!
Once again as with prior issues, our sole complaint is that the issue was not long enough. We want to know what is on the next page, and the one after that. We want to know if Sander is caught while… nope not telling.
Would we recommend this book to a friend? Already have and will continue to do so. This is a book that anybody that loves steampunk, action, science fiction, intrigue, political upheaval, romance and more can sink their teeth into. All that said, what’s our final score? Still firmly planted on the GoGeekGirl Must Read list with a 9 out of 10.
If you haven’t picked it up yet, we highly recommend you do.
