“After millions of views on DeviantArt, this popular web comic finally gets its own series. A teenage girl gets a mighty artifact that grants her immense powers…the catch? It’s a bit haunted! This self-contained “universe” includes Artifacts and characters from other series (with permission!) in a delectably STJEPAN SEJIC fashion!”

The better one is in the words of Top Cow:

The wait is over! Stjepan Sejic’s Switch is finally here!

Beginning as a hit webcomic, this alternate universe take on Top Cow characters and Artifacts is chock full of Easter eggs and fresh takes on the properties that Top Cow fans know and love…but never fear, newbies! If you’ve never read Witchblade or The Darkness (shame on you!), it won’t matter – you’ll still have an absolute blast with this zany, urban fantasy adventure!

True confession, when I first heard Stjepan Sejic was going to write Switch I was concerned. I had not followed this on Stjepan’s DeviantArt account, so had only glimpsed an occasional panel when it was shared on his social media accounts. Don’t get me wrong, I love the work Stjepan has been doing, but Witchblade was almost sacred to me. I have the almost every issue including some signed ones, the only gap in collection of this title comes from when I couldn’t spare the money for comic books so the thought of an alternate universe version of the Witchblade universe had me concerned.

I was sad enough when Top Cow had the death of The Darkness followed by the announcement of the end of Sara Pezzini as the bearer of the Witchblade. But to go in this direction, an alternate universe take on the Witchblade and other artifacts, I just didn’t believe it could work. You know what? I am more than happy to announce I was wrong! It works! It works well! Stjepan’s humor plays well with his take on the Witchblade universe.

Switch #1 page 12Stjepan has an amazing sense of humor and it shines in this new story, both in the words and the art, while still maintaining a sense of the Witchblade, the interaction of prior bearers with the current bearer, as well as placing the bearer firmly in the midst of the struggle between Light and Darkness.

We get some glimpses into the history of the universe as relates to at least one or two characters that will be pivotal to the universe and as well as glimpses of a few of the other players in the struggle between light and dark in Switch in issue 1, but those glimpses are promising.

Where will he run with the story and the characters? Only time and more issues will tell but I know I am going to be along for the ride, eagerly looking forward to each new issue.

Switch #1 page 22GoGeekGirl highly recommends this for both old and new readers of The Witchblade, The Darkness and Artifacts. Stjepan you have my sincerest apologies for having any doubts this could work (even if I never mentioned them to you), you definitely delivered a fun read. If you still need to know how Switch #1 rated after all of the words, I hate to say it, but Stjepan scored a perfect 10 with Switch #1.

Check out the first 22 pages with this Switch #1 Preview. Yes I said 22, this is half of the first issue, offered as a preview to us from Top Cow.
