SDCC a very quick update

Thursday night was not as planned but it turned out just a little better for that.  Rather than going to the party that I had been looking forward to I had decided I should take it a little easier as the mishap that morning meant that my ankle was in agony.  So instead it was a Metal Life Magazine dinner with some people that Terry knows. Was fun, laughs were had, updates from the day were shared, and The Fox Grill at the Hilton Bayfront was as good as I remembered from last year.  Then as they all headed off to their parties I headed around the corner to another venue at the Hilton Bayfront to find some friends at The Blank Page Project.  (Will have to share some photos and more info about that later)

Found Rahsan and Shannon Ekedal, we stayed at this party for a bit chatting with people that one or the other of us knew.  And then it was off to dinner (for them I was just going to be warming a seat and catching up with them)  Where did we go?  The Fox Grill of course.  Dinner, conversation, all three of us getting startled by cannons going off, some laughs and then as it was getting chilly and Rahsan still had commissions to work on we were off.  Them to the hotel, me to chill out (quite literally actually as the breeze picked up and the sun was down) until the next event that I needed to pop in to also at the Hilton Bayfront, and the reason I decided going to the Haven party and then trying to rush back here would have been bad for the ankle.

Finally the Boom! Drink Up was starting, but now how to find somebody I had never met, only tweeted with?  After checking the Twitter avatar a few more times it was time to see how good my powers of observation would be.  Walked through the party and nobody popped out as a possibility so took a seat out in the lounge area and just observerd for a bit.  Then for attempt two… wait, maybe, that person looks possible… observe for a few more and then… hey worst that can happen is they say they aren’t the person I am looking for so time to walk up and ask.  Success (though I pronounced the name wrong)  Was just as nice in person as online so business card passed over a few moments of conversation as could tell he was busy (afterall when you are one of the ones putting on the party it’s not like you totally get to kick back and relax, there is mingling and hand shaking to do)

Now that the purpose of the evening had been accomplished it was finally time to go rest the ankle.  This update was to be written that night, but all it took was a few moments of the Mac being on and I was sound asleep.  SDCC take a lot out of a person and Friday wasn’t any shorter.

But I am running out of time as I have to be at SDCC shortly so instead of a Friday update right now, I will tell you that the photo at the top is one of my favorite shots form Thursday, Bridget Silvestri showing off her Top Cow inspired nails for me.  And the one down here is my favorite from Friday thus far, September Mourning surprising Matt Hawkins when I ask them to pause/pose so I could grab a quick shot.  Doesn’t hurt that these three are among some of my favorite people and very awesome too.  More photos later of course)
