San Diego Comic-Con thus far has been a whirlwind of sights and sounds. Preview Night flew by much to quickly though I was able to make the rounds to say hello to most of the friends I have made at the various booths over the years. There were a few that I still haven’t made it to (whirlwind) but there are still three days to go so not to worry will get to all of them. The weather this year has been cooperating by being a little bit cooler than it has been the past few years, which with how much the Con has grown and how many events are either outside or in other nearby venues makes the running around a little less exhausting (and a little less stinky by day’s end).
As one would expect there aren’t many places in San Diego at the moment that you could go where Comic-Con would not be either present, being discussed or have Comic-Con attendees there. For those of us that love all things geeky, this is a little bit like Christmas except that it lasts for 4 1/2 days and often this is the only time of year you see some of these people.
Perhaps it’s been the whirlwind pace, or perhaps I just haven’t spotted as many cosplayers that I ‘must’ get a photo of yet, but my photo count is way below my average for Comic-con but not to worry there are photos coming and as my schedule for today is much less frantic I should have more time to wander (if you can wander in that crowd) the floor to capture the sights for those of you that are not here. (The photo is the calmest least crowded moment I will probably have seen on the Con floor all week)
Am actually very happy that today is my day that has a lighter schedule as Marc and Bridget Silvestri will be there today and that means not only great photo ops but time with people that just make the day shine a little bit brighter. Hopefully will also run into September Mourning today as well as a few of the cosplayers that I have been lucky enough to get to know over the years and have yet to run into. So expect lots of Friday photos when I have time to do all the post Con photo processing.
I know this post is a bit scattered and not giving to many details, but my brain is still waking up and I am about to rush off in search of some much needed coffee. Seems this year I have been managing a bit more of the nighttime socializing than I have in other years which makes for a slightly slower GoGeekGirl in the mornings. But not to worry, I shall soon be reinvigorated by caffeine and by the energy swirling around the convention center.
Also, I promise there will be some nice surprises coming as I have some interesting interviews coming your way. Saturday will definitely be a whirlwind as there are several lined up on just that one day. So stay tuned.
