Not much time to write this morning as I have to prep for a huge day at San Diego Comic-Con today. Have some interesting things lined up to bring back for you but for now a very very quick update on yesterday.
For my lightest scheduled day at SDCC this year, it was still quite busy but with a relaxing pace. It was a day for wandering the booths (still have quite a few to see as I have only seen a fraction of them). A day of conversations with friends (old and new) and lots and lots of photography. Sadly only a sampling of which I will be able to include here today but no worries I will get more of the images up for you to enjoy later.
It would not be a day at Comic-Con for me without a stop to say hi to Jim Balent and Holly Golightly and everybody at the Broadsword Comics booth. Friday this included a bit of fun getting a photo of the corset tightening conga line.
Seeing everybody at Top Cow is always high on my list and this year was no different. Especially once Bridget and Marc Silvestri arrived. Don’t tell Marc but seeing Bridget was a bit higher on the list as I have seen Marc more recently than Bridget and she is one of those bright sparkling people that you can’t help but be happy when you are with her. But remember you aren’t to tell Marc I said that. Even managed some quicks chat with Matt Hawkins, Linda and Stjepan Sejic and some of the newer members of the Top Cow team.
It was also a day to get to meet another legend, this time it was Todd McFarlane when he stopped by the Top Cow Productions booth to say hi to Marc Silvestri. The friendship between these two men was obvious to see to even the most casual of observers. And of course seeing these two men together was an instant draw for a crowd. Seeing him join into a quick photo shoot with several spidermen (including one of the cutest little spider-children was amazing and resulted in an instant crowd.
And as if that weren’t enough, being at the booth when Stan Lee stopped by to say hi to Marc and Bridget was definitely HUGE. Top Cow has it’s fans, but add Stan to the Top Cow booth and the fans went nuts. Seeing the joy and even awe at his presence was fantastic. Marc’s grin could not get much bigger. It is better than the one a child gets on Christmas morning when they are opening their gifts and find the one thing they thought they would never get.
Ok so much more to tell you but if I don’t get a move on I am not going to make it to the convention center in time for the interviews and panels that I have on the schedule for today. Be back later with more amazing stories from Comic-Con to share with you, for now enjoy this handful of shots from yesterday.
