Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo 2015 – Saturday

Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo 2015 - Stan Lee - Legends of ComicsStan Lee’s Comikaze Expo 2015 and the Legends in Comics

Saturday at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo 2015 passed in a whirlwind of sights and sounds. The morning was once again spent wandering the show floor checking out the cosplay and booths. At a show like this you can never see everything at every booth in one day, it’s just not possible unless you aren’t truly going to take any time to appreciate what you are seeing.

But if I am being honest, this wandering was done also to kill time as I was waiting with baited breath for what I considered the highlight of the show… The Legends of Comics panel with none other than Stan Lee, Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri and Todd McFarlane.

Wanting to ensure we had decent spots for the show a few of us headed over a bit early and once we wove our way into the crowd that was at the Hot Topic Main Stage for the Grant Morrison panel we had a good time and some laughs enjoying the rest of Grant’s panel. Talk about legends, Grant is one himself and it was an unexpected bonus to be able to catch part of his panel. (Not to mention getting to enjoy listening to his accent).

Once Grant’s panel wrapped up, if it wasn’t for who was coming on next I would have been sad about his panel ending, Regina Carpinelli introduced the start of the Legends of Comics panel by bringing Todd McFarlane on stage. Todd ended up not only being a panelist by also playing a bit of the role of panel host which did seem a bit confusing but hey you do what you have to do when the show is crazy busy. As the line up continued to take the stage you could not miss the friendship these men shared. The stories and laughs were full of genuine good humor and camaraderie.

The only thing that could have made this panel any better would have been also having Rob Liefeld up on the stage with them. Rob was originally listed for the panel but one must assume that his signing line was just to insane to get from his table in the west hall, where most of the show was located, to the south hall, where the Hot Topic Main Stage was located, in time for the panel. Though having attended a Rob Liefeld panel in the fall at another show I am not sure how much more the audience could have handled that much legendary talent on one stage at one time, nor could we have handled the added level of humor.

Following the panel I ended up having to take a much needed break to have a snack, get out of the crowd and just breath for a few moments before heading back to the West Hall and back into the insanity.

After making our way back through the food truck area which was set up between the two halls it was back to cosplay, booths and of course spending time hanging out at the Top Cow booth enjoying time with the team there, taking photos of people stopping by their booth as well as shots of the sketches Marc would work on for his fans.

There were so many moments enjoyed throughout the afternoon that it is hard to pick any one to focus on to talk about, so instead of trying I think we should just fast forward straight to the images from the day. Let you see for yourself the fun that was to be had at the show. Who knows maybe somewhere in the photos you might spot yourself or somebody you know.

For those of you that missed the Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo 2015 – Legends of Comics panel or would just like to relive it, RealistikkVideos shared it on YouTube and I’ve added it here for your convenience.
