Once there was a time we learned from our mistakes
Today it seems we only learn to make mistakes
Once there was a time that right made might
Today it seems that might must make right
It appears that we must do everything in reverse
Can any good come from such a path?
Can we ever learn not to be doomed…
…to repeat the mistakes of our fathers?
Can we not return to the times when right made might?
Does it always take bombs to make peace?
When all but a few demand other paths to peace,
…why does the world stand on the brink of war?
Will we never learn from our mistakes?
Must we be haunted again…
…by images of the destruction and suffering?
…by eyes as haunting as those of the Afghan girl?
When will we learn to not repeat the mistakes of our fathers?
When will we learn to live in peace?
