WonderCon 2015 Saturday through the Eyes of GoGeekGirl

While Friday of WonderCon had a lot of CosPlay, Saturday sees some of the best come out. This may be because for many Saturday is the first day they are at WonderCon, but it is more because Saturday night is the Masquerade. Regardless of why, there are plenty of people bringing it on Saturday and plenty of photo ops so that you can see what you missed or even what you didn’t miss, from Alice and the Mad Hatter, to Thor and Loki, The Jurassic Park Rangers, lots of anime, Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, Disney, tons of comic book characters of all shapes/colors and powers, the Easter Bunny and so much more.

My day started with people watching in front of the Anaheim Convention Center as I waited for the floor to open for the day. This worked out perfectly as my first photo of the day ended up being a familiar face, Tania Sperlonga. Running into her before the floor opened guaranteed knowing where Lorenzo Sperlonga’s booth was without having to look up the booth number again.

Saturday worked out as a perfect day to wander the convention floor with breaks out front to do more people watching and photography. I enjoy being able to take time to chat with various writers and artists at these shows and where San Diego Comic Con may have more people, WonderCon being a little smaller allows me time to have these conversations. Had a wonderful one early in the day with a writer about her style of writing down the various parts of her stories as they hit her and then organizing it all later rather than attempting to write it all in sequence. It was an approach I had not considered thus providing me more food for thought on how to approach writing.

Walking the floor allows more than just an opportunity to talk with writers and artists, it allows time to catch various discussions ranging from cosplay to favorite superheroes. From how somebody either made or acquired parts of their gear. Seeing fans geeking out over meeting somebody who’s work they love or an actor they adore. But if you want to see moments that are sure to make you smile then watch for parents with their children, sometimes all were cosplaying, sometimes it was just the children that were dressed up. Personally I love seeing adults sharing their passion for things geeky with their kids.

But enough of me talking about why I loved Saturday at WonderCon 2015 it’s time for you to get a glimpse through my eyes to see it for yourself.
