Comikaze 2014 – Moments not to be missed and the photos to prove they happened

Stan Lee's Comikaze 2014Comikaze 2014 was filled with moments not to be missed. From the littlest cosplayers to the biggest stars. I love coming to Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo, for the moments, the people, the creators, the fans and the fun. It’s between the large shows that you can only see a portion of, and the small shows that you can see everything in a matter of hours. Just enough to find something new around the turn into a new row, and the I have seen this before but love it still. Large enough you don’t get bored, but small enough you can take time and actually have good conversations with the very people that you come to see.

From the Witchblade trying to take out the folks at Top Cow starting with strangling her own creator to a little girl running back to hug Michael Trucco after her family had finished getting photos and autographs. Sadly that moment happened so quickly that the photo did not come out, it was precious. Especially watching Michael give her a huge hug back. An unexpected but precious moment showing why we love these cons so much.

Moments of taking photos of Phil Smith’s daughter as she would peek over the railing separating his booth from the Top Cow booth. She was so cute about it that I had to take photos to share. Moments of parents with their children and all the enjoyment they all were taking sharing a common moment, a geeky moment. Aa moment, an hour, a day, a weekend, it did not matter it was a common joy shared with parent and child. And simply all of the moments enjoying the amazing cosplay that turned out for the show and then bringing it here for you to enjoy, whether you were there or are enjoying it vicariously through the words and images here.

Watching people like Marc Silvestri and Michael Trucco (among others) that could easily sit there with huge egos and not care about the fans that are there to see them just light up as they interact with the fans is amazing. Even had to wait to comment to Michael how wonderful it was observing him interact with his fans. He really lit up as he spoke with them, and you can see it in their eyes when they are truly enjoying it.  It wasn’t the first con I had seen him interact with his fans,  but it was the first time I stopped and actually mentioned it to him. Seems like a nice guy and even let me take some cool shots of him with the woman that was assisting at his autograph session.

Moments such as seeing Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri and Stan Lee on the same stage and how much they enjoy each other and talking about the thing they love (and that brings us there too). Not to mention seeing the fans’ reaction when Stan joins these men on stage! Talk about an amazing level of talent on one stage at one time, a moment to be treasured for sure.

Not to mention… Trick ‘r Treating at a comic con!

Random moments around the show, spent much the show simply wandering the floor, chatting with folks and taking lots and lots of photos. Since it’s been said a photo is worth a thousand words, this story will very rapidly turn into a huge novel (but only with the photos), I won’t try to regale you with all the moments I enjoyed but I will share the ones that I could so that you can experience them or relive them with me if you were there.

But why am I still talking when we know you are here for the moments, the ones you can experience one shot at a time, each saying a thousand words or more. Each conveying somebody’s joy. Somebody’s passion. Somebody’s creation(s). So here you go, a novel in picture form.
