Steve Niles, Monica Richards and Superheroes in Training in Photos

Steve NilesSteve Niles and Monica Richards were signing at Superheroes in Training on March 29, 2014 and I almost missed it all.  I was taking a much needed easy day.  The preceding couple weeks had wiped me out.  While in the back of my mind I suspected I was supposed to be doing, somehow my body and mind didn’t want to complete the connection to my calendar, so I was resting and recharging. That is until a text came in asking me “you coming to meet Steve?”  And that is when the connection was made with where I was supposed to be and what I was to be doing.

Steve Niles was signing at Superheroes in Training and I had planned to go meet him in person and hopefully get a couple pictures to share with all of you.  So into high gear I go, get the camera gear out and check that a memory card is in and the battery in the camera is charged (fortunately it was as there was no time to charge one).  Shower and dress, oh wait where is his book that I want him to sign?  Grab that as well and finally hit the road.  Good thing it is only minutes from my home so I could stop and grab some green tea on the way, after-all with all that resting I had yet to have anything to eat or drink.

I know! I know! Enough with the lead up tell us about the signing and getting to meet Steve and Monica already!

If you have heard rumors about Steve Niles being one of the nice guys, I am happy to say that based yesterday, I have to say those rumors are very true!

If you have heard that Monica Richards is sweet and warm, those rumors also are true.

Watching them interact with fans the smiles and genuine interest in the conversation they were having with the fans  was what I love about the good guys.  I love observing creators that smile when they are talking with their fans, and I don’t mean the pasted on smile but the smile that you see in their eyes telling you it is genuine.  Watching the excitement of fans, who may have interacted with the creators online if even that, light up when they get to meet the creators of stories, movies, music and art that they have come to love.  It is magical when both happen at the same time and that was what I was witnessing yesterday.

It was an awesome afternoon spent with a couple of awesome people (which I came so close to missing, good thing Mike of Superheroes in Training texted to make sure I was coming LOL).

Thank you Monica and Steve for being such good sports about all the photos.
